The cinema documentary ZU EBENER ERDE accompanies some homeless people in Vienna for over a year 
through all seasons on their everyday journeys. He shows their survival strategies and questions them
about their dreams, fears and longings. It becomes clear how contemporary life on the street
is inextricably linked to a close-knit network of social institutions.
Directors Birgit Bergmann, Steffi Franz and Oliver Werani give their protagonists a voice
and make them visible as people. At the centre of ZU EBENER ERDE are
the homeless people portrayed and their very own view of life in the city of Vienna
 - a perspective that the film takes up, and thus not only reveals a multitude of completely unknown
urban locations, but also allows us to rediscover seemingly familiar places in Vienna.
